Sketch Series 2: Jasons Deli, Winston Salem
* WELL AS I FIRST STEPPED INTO THIS SPACE I NOTICED HOW DARK IT WAS THROUGHOUT. THE MAIN LIGHTING FIXTURES WERE RECESSED AND CEILING FAN GLOBES. THE LAMPS PRIMARILY USED WERE INCANDESCENT, BUT I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE MORE FLUORESCENT LAMPS THROUGHOUT. I KNOW THE SPACE WAS DESIGNED FOR THE USER TO FEEL RELAXED BUT THE LIGHTING WAS SO DIM YOU WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO READ THE MENU FROM YOUR SEAT. ON THE DISPLAYS THERE WAS ALLOT OF GLARE FROM BOTH THE FIXTURES AND THE NATURAL SUN LIGHT. IT MAY BE MORE FUNCTIONABLE IN THE SPACE IF THERE WERE SOME TYPE OF WINDOW COVERINGS AND BRIGHTER FIXTURES THROUGHOUT. SINCE THE SPACE WAS SO DARK SHADOWS AND SHADE WERE OVER THE TABLES, THIS COULD THEN AGAIN BE FIXED WITH BRIGHTER LAMPS SUCH AS FLUORESCENT. THE PATTERNS OF LIGHTS WOULD FALL UNDER THE SAME PROBLEM AND SOLUTION AS THE SHADE AND SHADOW.

* THE TWO TYPES OF LIGHTING USED IN THIS PARTICULAR GALLERY ARE TRACK AND RECESSED. THE LAMP PRIMARILY USED IS INCANDESCENT. ALL FIXTURES ARE LOCATED ON THE CEILING. THE TRACK LIGHTING IS FOCUSED ON A VARIETY OF ART PIECES. ON THE FIRST IMAGE YOU CAN SEE A PROBLEM WITH GLARE. THE SHADOWS DON'T SEEM TO BE MUCH OF A PROBLEM ON THE ART PIECES/ DISPLAYS. THE LIGHT AS A WHOLE DOESN'T OVER POWER THE SPACE BUT PROVIDES JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT. THERE COULD BE A LITTLE LESS SHADE IN THE SPACE, POSSIBLY SOLVED WITH A LITTLE MORE TRACK LIGHTS POSITIONED ON THE FLOOR OR WALL.THE SHADOWS ALSO MAKE FOR INTERESTING ART PIECES.
Sketch Series 2: Verizon Wireless, Winston Salem
* IN THIS STORE THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF LIGHTING. THE MAIN TYPE OF LIGHTING IS RECESSED ON THE CEILING. THE PRIMARY LIGHT SOURCES USE INCANDESCENT AND FLUORESCENT LAMPS. ABOVE THE DISPLAYS THERE ARE WALL MOUNTED DISPLAY LIGHTS. ANOTHER TYPE OF LIGHTING USED FOR THE DISPLAYS IS HANGING TRACK LIGHTING WHICH IS HUNG FROM THE CEILING. WHEN I WALKED IN THE SPACE IT SEEMED A LITTLE BRIGHT, SO IF A FEW OF THE TRACK LIGHTS WERE TAKEN OUT IT WOULD FEEL MORE BALANCED. THERE REALLY WAS NOT MUCH PROBLEM WITH SHADE OR SHADOW BEING THE SPACE WAS OVER LIT.THE PATTERNS OF LIGHT WERE JUST RIGHT FOR THE DISPLAYS.
Sketch Series 2: Stone Building
*THE HALLWAY ON THE TOP PROVIDES LIGHT FROM BOTH WALL MOUNTED FIXTURES AND CHANDELIERS. THE CHANDELIERS ARE LOCATED ON THE CEILING. THE LIGHTING EFFECTS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THE OPPOSITE HALLWAY. I FEEL ON THIS SIDE OF THE HALL THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF A WALL WASH OF LIGHT ON THE WALLS RATHER THAN THE CEILING, WHICH WOULD PROVIDE LESS SHADE.
* THE HALLWAY ON THE BOTTOM PROVIDES LIGHT FROM WALL MOUNTED FIXTURES. THE LIGHT IS TURNED IN AN INDIRECT DIRECTION. THE LAMPS USED PRIMARILY IN BOTH HALLWAYS IS INCANDESCENT. BEING THE HALLWAY IS RATHER DARK THE LIGHT PROVIDES A GLOW ACROSS THE CEILING AND FLOOR. I FEEL LIKE THE SPACE IS IN A COMFORTABLE SETTING BUT IF THE WALL COLOR WAS SLIGHTLY LIGHTER IT WOULDN'T FEEL SO DARK. THE LIGHT PATTERNS AND SHADOW REFLECT ON BOTH THE FLOOR AND CEILING. IF THE FLOORING WAS CARPET THERE WOULD BE LESS GLARE AND SHADOW.
